Kay canceled a tour in 2017 and has rarely been seen in public since. He was last on TV in 2018 when he appeared in two special episodes of Car Share.

Someone else wrote: & # 39; Peter Kay didn't look or sound good & # 39; e Tele, and he did not. Sad to see! #BigNightIn & # 39;

Another fan commented: & # 39; Great to see Peter Kay, although the legend is obviously far from 100%

& # 39; Whatever he cycles, me and I are sure the rest of the country wants him to get well very soon! Good morning. & # 39;

Someone else asked: & # 39; Everyone else cared about Peter Kay. Nice to see him, but something didn't look right #BigNightIn. & # 39;

Introducing the video, Kay said: & # 39; Hello all. I just sit outside and enjoy the rather cramped weather, which is rare for Bolton.

& # 39; Fifteen years ago, I made a sketch for Comic Relief. I never imagined it would go so well and make everyone happy, and I thought what a perfect time to recreate it, so I've asked many of you to film and submit yourself & # 39 ;.

He ended his message by saying & # 39; watch out and enjoy yourself with a lot of love for you all & # 39 ;.

The Big Night in then let people up and down the country join in and mimic the Tony Christie song, which was re-released 15 years ago by Kay to raise money for Comic Relief.

The Amarillo video showed families at home, shop workers, firefighters and women and healthcare workers all dancing to the music – interspersed with clips of "cabaret" from & # 39; an original music snippet.

The Big Night In also saw Stephen Fry reprise his iconic role as Lord Melchett of Blackadder. His character took a Zoom call with Prince William just before 8am when he left the nation to beat the NHS.

Melchett impatiently walked around his office waiting for the & # 39; Duke to call in, quipping: & # 39; I thought Germans were meant to be punctual & # 39 ;.

& # 39; Dishy Rishi & # 39; Sunak wow viewers as he appears on BBC & # 39; s Big Night In fundraiser to announce the government's promise to match all donations

Rishi Sunak became an unlikely star of & # 39; s special fund of & # 39; on BBC's Big Night In Fundraising, he announced the government's commitment to match any donation given.

The Chancellor, speaking from his home off Downing Street, told viewers that we would remember how & # 39; we as a country came together & # 39; in & # 39; fight against the coronavirus.

He announced that the government would match donations similarly, with the first £ 20 million that would go to the National Emergencies Trust.

Viewers were quick to praise the priest boss for the short look, and in particular wear casual jeans and a top instead of the & # 39; suit of & # 39; politician & # 39 ;.

BBC Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine said: & # 39; Probably the least pompous TV performance by a Chancellor of & # 39; e Treasury in history. #BigNightIn. & # 39;

Stephen Canning added: & # 39; I look good that Rishi Sunak on & # 39; e Big Night was dressed like his normal self, instead of a politician, and he pledged to match the funds. & # 39;

The Duke said he had trouble not watching EastEnders, but declined the recommendation of & # 39; the Blackadder star to visit Netflix sensation Tiger King instead, and added: & # 39; I like shows on royalty & # 39; s. & # 39;

After their virtual exchange, Melchett reminded William to go and clap for the NHS at 8 p.m. The show then cut to the Cambridges, knocking on its doors as part of a weekly show of gratitude to health and social care workers.

The Duke is a big fan of Blackadder – the comedy romp through history that also stars Rowan Atkinson and Sir Tony Robinson – and was aiming to take part in the sketch when asked by the BBC.

Love Actually director Richard Curtis, who co-wrote the hit series with Ben Elton, penned the pre-recorded skit that didn't last nearly two minutes.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall were also featured on a show in a video of their claps for caretakers outside the front door of their Scottish home Birkhall.

The show was presented live from The One Show studio in London by Sir Lenny Henry, Davina McCall, Zoe Ball, Matt Baker and Paddy McGuinness.

The hosts launched the program by ensuring that viewers observed them and all of their crew social distance.

The evening's line-up included musical performances of & # 39; e likes of Sam Smith, Liam Payne and Rita Ora and comedy sketches by Miranda Hart and Little Britain stars David Walliams and Matt Lucas.

By leaving the program at 7pm, Sir Lenny said: & # 39; It's 7 O & # 39; Clock on Thursday, or is it Sunday? Who knows more, I'm just glad to have a pants on. & # 39;

When asked why & # 39; t Children In Need mascot Pudsey Bear was absent, he joked that he & # 39; furloughed & # 39; who.

While his co-host Davina McCall told viewers: & # 39; Put that banana bread down, stop that online quiz, and prepare yourself for entertainment.
