Nils Eekhoff and Casper van Uden will also race for Team DSM-firm PostNL in the coming years. The 25-year-old Eekhoff and Van Uden, three years younger, have signed a new contract until 2026.

Eekhoff, who comes from the Development program, switched to the main force in the corona year 2020. Van Uden has also been part of the structure of the Dutch formation since 2020 and became a professional rider halfway through the 2022 season. “The multi-year contracts are a sign of intention and stability while Team DSM-firmenich PostNL builds on the future,” it says. read in a press release.

Nils Eekhoff experienced some physical problems in his first professional years, but last year he also stuck his nose to the window several times. In June 2023 he even recorded his first professional victory – in the prologue of the ZLM Tour. He also finished third in the Tro-Bro Léon, fourth in the Sparkassen Münsterland Giro and fifth in the Tour stage to Limoges.

A double role for Eekhoff
Eekhoff hopes to continue this good trend in 2024. “The team feels like home to me, I know everyone and the way they work very well. It has been a great environment for me to continuously make progress as a rider, and I am eager to continue that journey with the team. Over the years I have learned that setbacks are also part of being a professional athlete and as long as we continue to take steps in the right direction, good will come in the future.”

But the North Hollander does not only look at himself. “I think with my passion to give everything, I hope to inspire the other guys to push each other further. That will hopefully ensure that we achieve great things together, because everyone has to give 110 percent. I want to become one of the most important riders in the classic finals and be of value wherever I can to achieve the team goals.”

Van Uden: “Wants to fight for victories”
Schiedam-born Van Uden is about to start his second full season as a professional after being promoted in mid-2022. Van Uden already showed his sprint capabilities in the youth categories. He also managed to use his fast legs with the pros – he finished third in Milan-Turin and second in a stage in the Tour of Britain – although Van Uden is still waiting for his first victory with the pros.

“I like the way the team works. They give you a lot of help and structure, but always make you think and ensure that you continue to challenge yourself and the people who work in the team. It really feels like a comfortable and relaxing environment for me. In my first full year as a professional I learned to be patient and work hard. At the beginning of the season my goal was to win straight away, but unfortunately I didn’t succeed.”

“It was mentally tough at times, but I received a lot of support. Looking ahead, I want to share what I know from the team with the other guys and be someone who can bring the group together. On the bike I want to become a more consistent sprinter and fight for those victories in the races where I am the finisher, but I am also looking forward to putting in the effort and being a team player.”
