Princess Beatrice admitted it was an ‘honor’ to wear the Queen’s dress on her wedding day and revealed that she and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were ‘so excited’ for their future in a rare tweet.

The monarch’s granddaughter, 32, married real estate developer Edo in secret on July 17 at the All Saints Chapel Royal at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, after the couple were forced to postpone their planned nuptials on May 29 due to Covid-19.

Yesterday Beatrice tweeted to thank the people who sent the couple their best wishes on their special day, adding: ‘Edo and I are so excited to be embarking on this new chapter together. ”

She also shared a tweet from the Royal Collection Trust encouraging people to visit her current exhibition where her wedding dress created by Norman Hartnell – which she borrowed from the Queen, 94 – shoes and a replica bouquet are currently on display .

Beatrice tweeted: “ It was an honor to wear my grandmother’s beautiful dress on my wedding day, I hope many of you can visit the exhibition which is still open at Windsor Castle. ”

Her Majesty wore the stunning vintage dress at a State dinner for the Italian Prime Minister in Rome in 1961 and at the Lawrence of Arabia premiere at the Odeon in Leicester Square in London in 1962.

Small adjustments were made to the dress by Monarch Angela Kelly’s dresser and designer Stewart Parvin for Beatrice’s wedding day, including the addition of vintage diamond-embroidered cap sleeves.

The Queen also loaned Beatrice the Queen Mary Fringe tiara which she herself wore when she married Prince Philip in 1947.

The last time Princess Beatrice tweeted was over a year ago in September 2019, to announce her engagement to Edo.

Many fans praised the royal for wearing her grandmother’s dress, with one calling it a ‘nice gesture’.

One of them commented: “I love that you are wearing your grandmother’s dress! So beautiful and personal. IMO the prettiest of all princess brides and dresses for the past two decades or three! Simply stunning! Congratulations!’

“Best wishes and blessings for your future together,” wrote another. “You raised the bar to new levels by wearing your grandma’s stunning vintage dress and wedding tiara. As a grandmother during the war and afterwards, you showed the world how to cope in difficult times.

Loved it, ” another tweeted, while a fan gushed: “ A spectacular and touching choice and a beautiful gesture to your grandmother, for whom I have the utmost respect. ”

Last month, Beatrice broke her silence about her secret wedding, saying it was ‘so much fun’ in a video for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice where she announced the winners of the Kids Summer Art Competition 2020 from organization.

Details of the wedding ceremony were not made public in advance and the couple were initially due to be married at the Chapel Royal, followed by a reception in the gardens of Buckingham Palace – but their big day has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Beatrice’s father, the Duke of York, accompanied her down the aisle, but he was not shown in the photographs released by Buckingham Palace. The wedding was also attended by the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

Beatrice’s wedding dress will be on display from September 24 to November 22.
