Tara Hanlon is Kim Kardashian ‘party girl’ lookalike arrested at Heathrow
‘Party lover’ Kim Kardashian lookalike was reportedly caught with nearly £ 2million in five suitcases at Heathrow Airport trying to get to Dubai, friends have told she had just landed a new ‘lucrative’ job in London, MailOnline can reveal.
Tara Hanlon, 30, who worked for a recruitment firm in Leeds, left Yorkshire after telling friends her new high-paying role was in public relations.
The head of the recruiting firm, Hanlon, was arrested by border officials with £ 1.9million in cash in five suitcases as she attempted to catch a flight to Dubai on October 3.
It was the biggest seizure of money this year, and she could face up to 14 years in prison if convicted of money laundering.
But her arrest stunned her grandmother who claimed she was a career woman who “ would never be involved in a crime. ”
In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Maureen Downs, 80, said: ‘I know my granddaughter and she would never do anything that she is accused of. She has a heart of gold.
“She’s a lovely girl and she never, ever had any problems.
Suggesting that her ‘naive’ granddaughter may have been the victim of a set-up, she added: ‘I want to know if anyone has changed their suitcases. I can’t see her having the confidence to go through an airport like this.
Ms Downs said Tara, from Leeds, was devastated by the loss of her mother at the end of March, saying: ‘My daughter has passed away and we have lost another relative to cancer. Tara was heartbroken. It has been a terrible year.

Hanlon appeared in court charged with money laundering for the discovery of the money (above) and was remanded in custody until November 5, when she appears at Isleworth Crown Court.
Neighbors in the quiet Leeds dead end where she lives (above) say she is a ‘typical girl next door’ who offered to pick up their groceries and promoted her dachshund to a nearby green
She added: ‘I can’t sleep and hope I wake up from this nightmare. ”
Carefree Hanlon had worked as Director of Operations at international recruiting firm Goodall Brazier.
The company was founded in 2009 by Richard Goodall, driving Porsche, with two members of staff.
In 2017, it recorded a turnover of over £ 2million and now employs over 50 people.
Mr Goodall, who raises money for cancer charities, has seen the headhunting industry grow in the EU as well as the US, where he has focused on hiring in the beauty industry.
Hanlon’s grandmother said she struggled to cope after the death of her 53-year-old mother
Its website says it operates in more than 60 countries around the world.
In a statement, the company declined to comment, simply saying, “ This is an ongoing police investigation, so it is not appropriate for us to comment at this time. ”
Party girl Hanlon, who has had cosmetic surgery to try and look like her idol Kim Kardashian, faces up to 14 years in prison if convicted.
Her grandmother continued: “Tara has never taken drugs. She has always worked and at 14 she had a job at a golf club. She always worked. She loved to party. She liked a little glamor, said Tara.
“ She wanted to look like this Kardashian woman and she had lips made like her. ”
She said Tara last had a relationship four years ago, but her family were shocked to learn of her arrest as they didn’t even know she was flying to Dubai.
“It completely knocked us out,” she said. “It comes from the blue. It really is.
She said Hanlon’s father Lenny had done his best to care for her and her two sisters, as well as grief over the loss of his wife Angela, who died on March 27 at the age of 53.
“Lenny is shocked and was already heartbroken for his wife. He’s just trying to get over it.
“ Now he fights like hell for her, we all are because it’s totally out of character.
“She never, ever, did anything wrong with this child. She smoked and that was about it.
Hanlon had worked as an operations manager at international recruitment firm Goodall Brazier, which has an office in Leeds (above). The cabinet declined to comment on the police investigation
Ms Downs said she still sees her granddaughter as a young girl because of the love and closeness between them.
“I knew she was 30, but for me, she was not 30, she was still our young Tara.
She said the family is coming together to support her.
Hanlon has listed his skills online as exercise psychology, fitness training management, wellness coaching, insurance, and underwriting.
Neighbors in a quiet cul-de-sac in Middleton, Leeds also spoke warmly of the well-dressed woman who has often been seen walking her dachshund on the nearby green.
They said she would offer to offer groceries to friends as she drove to the supermarket in her 2016 Mini Cooper.
When she threw a 30th birthday party last month at her detached house, she impressed other residents by sending a polite note ahead of time to apologize for any loud music and inviting them to come.
A neighbor added: ‘She was not your typical girl next door as she wore quite a bit of makeup and enjoyed living a party life.
“ When I heard about what happened to him I couldn’t believe it and I kept thinking that there had been a mistake. She was still smiling and saying hello.
Hanlon was arrested alongside another woman, 28, from Doncaster, and an investigation has been opened by the National Crime Agency. The other woman was released under investigation.
Hanlon appeared in court on money laundering charges and was remanded in custody until November 5, when she appears at Isleworth Crown Court.
